For Marie Samuel Levasseur, describing a work of art is never a neutral or technical act: it’s a way of relating to others, of using words either to welcome or exclude. Every description is a voice. This exhibition invites visitors to move through the voices that create pathways between language and imagery. Through The Paths Between Word and Image, describing also means caring for one another, and together imagining more equitable and sustainable ways of doing things.
Two parts opening: in order to ensure safe access for everyone, face masks will be mandatory during the first hour of the exhibition opening, from 5:00 to 6:00. Starting 6:00 pm onwards, masks will be recommended. However, if you have flu or cold like symptoms, please consider wearing a mask for the well-being of everyone. Thank you for your cooperation.

About the artist:
Marie Samuel Levasseur has a multidisciplinary practice that blends art and life. She has developed a collaborative, creative process through chatting, and uses micro-narratives to express the indescribable, but also plural identities in narratives that relate to the experiences of remarkable lives. Levasseur holds a Master of Visual and Media Arts from UQAM, and graduate diplomas in Indigenous Studies and Education. She is currently pursuing studies in sexual and interpersonal violence. As a caregiver, she is also developing a co-creative and curatorial practice at the intersection of art, truth, and justice, namely as part of the duo Place Courage.
