The photobook is a mode of photographic practice that inextricably bound up with a constellation of issues: identity, place, politics, community, and desire. The Book —a book on books of sorts— contains essays by Michel Hardy-Vallée (on John Max’s Open Passport, 1973), Karla McManus (on the NFB’s Between Friends/Entre amis, 1976) and Zoë Tousignant (on Foto Canada magazine, 1967-68), as well as a site-specific intervention by artist Nelson Henricks.
