Artexte Indigenous Writer in Residence Aaron Rice will give a public presentation on his research into Indigenous hunger and the intersections of art, activism, and sustenance.
Following the presentation, traditional corn soup will be offered to guests as part of an exercise in hosting, gifting, generosity, and survivance. The artist will also engage the audience in a durational performance entitled Husk, which incorporates the repetitive movements and sounds of husking corn.
Fresh corn will be available for guests to take home at the end of the evening.

It is with the support of the Indigenous Arts Committee of the Conseil des arts de Montréal, that Artexte offers a research and writing residency, where for a period of three to six months, where Artexte invites an Indigenous artist, curator or researcher from any area of contemporary art to explore its collection of documentary resources.
