Hochelaga Rock by Hannah Claus

Housing Justice and the Arts Today

A library exhibition

March 25th - April 25th, 2026

We drew inspiration from the roundtable discussion Housing Justice and the Arts Today, featuring Stefan Christoff, Parker Mah, Jules Bugiel, and David Austin, to select materials from the collection that address issues of dislocation, housing insecurity and gentrification, as they specifically affect or are affected by the arts community. The selected materials will give you the opportunity to continue the conversation that began during the event.

Hannah Claus and her series Hochelaga Rock allow us to anchor forced displacement within the colonial origins of the city itself, ensuring we do not forget the violent displacements that have occurred since the colonization of Kanien’kehá:ka lands. Uprootings that still to occur right here in the Quartier des Spectacles, as illustrated by AM Trépanier’s installation Dans le souffle de c.

On display at Artexte until April 25th, 2026.
