Artexte’s Book Club

A series of educational activities in collaboration with Montreal independent bookstores

More details coming soon

Artexte invites you to a brand-new series of educational activities bringing together contemporary visual arts and literature. Artexte’s Book Club offers three activities, during which independent Montreal bookstores are invited to choose a theme that will be embodied and discussed through excerpts from literary titles from their shelves. In collaboration with the teams of the Maktaba and Un Livre à Soi bookstores, these open to all and collective discussions will be enriched by the presentation of a selection of related artistic practices documented in the Artexte collection.

This cycle of participative and collaborative gatherings is an opportunity to discover new contemporary artistic practices, the work of artists and authors underrepresented in the cultural landscape, and above all to gain new insight into the center’s documentary collection.

The activity will take place in French and English to ensure the inclusion of all participants. Members of the Artexte and participating bookstore teams will moderate the book club discussions. Snacks and tea from Camellia Sinensis will be served to participants.

Say tuned!

The date of the first Artexte’s Book Club activity, in collaboration with Maktaba Bookshop, and the book excerpts to be discussed will be announced soon and made available in print and digital format for free. More information to come!
