Artist talk with kimura byol-nathalie lemoine (나타리 르무완 * ナタリー.ルモワーヌ) and Kim Waldron

Knowing that most interracial and international adoptions send children of color into Western Caucasian families, the artist and activist kimura byol-nathalie lemoine wanted to present another vision of what interracial adoption could be.
To realize this, the artist Kim Waldron and kimura-lemoine decided to stage photographs of everyday life and key moments of the journey of a fictitious adoption. These photographs tell the story of a Caucasian woman adopted into a Canadian family of Korean descent. By this reversal, these images, at first sight banal, become interesting and intriguing here.
The Kim Kim project elaborates Kim Waldron’s previous photographic and video work that incorporates self-portraiture into fictitious situations in order to challenge aspects of identity and social conditioning. Her photographic work uses a documentary aesthetic to make fictional propositions credible. This collaboration with kimura-lemoine uses the aesthetics of family photographs, a Korean family whose surname is Kim and Kim Waldron’s birth parents to create an imaginary and improbable tale of international adoption.
Kim Kim is part of the Art Souterrain festival, which is exhibited at Arsenal and in the collection of Artexte documentation center. kimura byol-nathalie lemoine (나타리 르무완 * ナタリー.ルモワーヌ) is a conceptual feminist multimedia artist who works on identities (diaspora, ethnicity, colorism, post-colonialism, immigration, gender).
Kim Waldron is a Montreal-based visual artist. Her art practice frequently uses self-portraiture as a means of engaging with various contemporary social situations.

대부분의 국제- 다른 인종입양은 유색인종 아이들을 서양 백인 가족들에게 보내는것이 보통의 예이다. 예능인-행동주의자 (활동가) 키무라 별-나탈리 르므완은 이러한 다른 인종간의 입양의 현실을 환상적으로 표현해보기로햇다.
이 아이디어를 실현하기위해서, 김김과 키무라 르무완은 가공의 (꾸며낸) 입양의 중요한 순간들과 일상생활을 보여주는은 사진을 상연하기로 햇다. 이사진들은 한국인 계통의 캐나다 국적을가진 한 가족에게 입양된 캐나다 백인여자의 이야기를 보여준다. 이 역전을 통해서, 처음에는 평범한것같은 이 영상들이 호기심을 자아내며 재미잇게된다.
김김 프로젝트는 김 월돈의 이전의 사진-비데오 작풍들을 더 정교하게 만든것이다. 김월돈의작품은 자신의 초상화를 가공의 상태에 합동해서, 정체성뒤에 숨어잇는 사회적조절을 도전하기위한것이다. 그녀의 사진 작품은 꾸며낸 제안을 믿음직하게 만들기 위해서 사실에 근거한 미적정서를 이용한다. 이 키무라 별과의 공동 작품은 한가족사진의 미적정서를이용한다. 이가족은 한국인이며, 그 가족 이름은 김, 그리고 김월돈 의 친부모. 이 작품이 보여주는것은 상상적이고 국제 입양에서는 일어날성싶지않은 이야기이다.
