Artexte on Tap 5 : What is an artists’ book?

Special edition Volume 1 Montreal : Art and the Book

October 17, 2018 - 5:30 PM

For this 5th edition of Artexte on Tap, in partnership with Volume 1 Montreal: Art and the Book, we propose an animated and bubbly evening around a diversified selection of artists’ books, on the challenges that can affect its publication and the issues around its ever-changing nature. To encourage and enrich the discussion and debate on these particular objects, our librarians will present a selection of titles from our unique collection.

This will be an opportunity to read, browse and discuss the contemporary work of several local artists including Céline Huyghebaert, Jessica Auer, Jim Holyoak and Daniel Canty among others, as well as some precious works dating back to the ’70s, including titles by Michael Snow, Adrian Piper, Sol Lewitt and others.

Artexte on Tap is an ongoing bimonthly series takes place every two months, providing an occasion to engage in dialogue and share a drink in the library. Guided by specific themes and introduced by Artexte’s librarians and invited guests, a selection of documents will be presented to allow opportunities for discovery and to generate informal conversations about contemporary art and documentation.
