Questioning the future

Rethinking the new Biennial of Montreal

June 4, 2014 - 5 PM to 7 PM

Artexte and the UQAM Department of Art History invite you to a roundtable organized by the students in the course Analyse des œuvres d’art sur le site : la biennale comme format d’exposition à New York, Montréal et Québec. This event will be the first of its kind to reflect upon the new Montreal Biennale and will take place on the 4th of June at Artexte. This event brings together key figures within the visual arts, such as Mathieu Beauséjour (Montreal-based artist), Louise Déry (Director of the UQAM gallery and curator of the Canadian pavilion at the Venice Biennial in 2007), Sylvie Fortin (Director of the BNL MTL) and Alain Thibault (artistic director of the BIAN), to discuss the impact, the expectations, as well as the issues of the Montreal biennial’s newest rendition. This roundtable offers the opportunity to engage in a constructive and reflective conversation and is equally invested in thinking about future developments of the biennial phenomenon.
